I am from Quebec City. Went to college in Toronto (York) to learn English and moved to Dallas in 1985 to work for a high-tech company. I moved back to Toronto in 87 to work for Oracle who was very small then. That same year I was offered a job with its biggest competitor, Ingres, who I joined Fall 87. I started as a 'techie', rapidly progressed into US marketing, then built and ran International and Global marketing for the company. I started my own business in 92 to help high-tech companies grow their businesses and brand overseas. I extensively worked in Europe, Asia, Japan and Australia. Took interim VP international roles and CMO roles. Grew my business successfully and self-funded over 10 years. Started a new business in 2005 to advise Boards, CEOs and Executives with leadership effectiveness and strategy, and I am very passionate about my work.

I was Sandra Earles when I left St. John's in October of 1997 to come to the USA to marry my American! We met online, back before that was common. I have since lived in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Austin, Texas and now in Denver, Colorado. I am a proud Newfie. I tell everyone about "home" and I don't think people quite get it. But Newfies away from home will always refer to Newfoundland as home.

I was born and raised in Perth Ontario. I met my now husband online and we moved to Northern Maine after we married. I live 15 minutes from the New Brunswick border so I can visit Canada anytime I like. I have the best of both worlds!

Hello... I am really enjoying all of your stories and shared experiences. My husband and I are planning to leave beautiful Victoria, B.C. with our 3 small children and relocate to Boca Raton where we have friends. I am wondering about the medical system and the way of American life. If you have any info or advice please share it with me. Thanks.

I moved from Ottawa to Delaware in August of 1998 with my two daughters to join my now husband, who I had met on the internet in a chat room a couple of years earlier. If someone had told me 5 years earlier that I would end up living in the United States, I would have laughed. However, life has its twist and turns, and doors can open and close at a moment's notice. I now find myself married almost 8 years to a wonderful man, with three teenagers, three dogs, a great home and a great life.

I came to Hawaii in 2003 with my husband and daughter just for the adventure for a year or so. I am an RN and my husband is a journeyman so we knew we would always be able to work, and we have, but the cost of living makes Hawaii a challenge. I miss Nelson, BC so much with its small town pace and beauty but this climate is simply the best! Mostly I miss "Canadian" culture, where I felt that making friends was easier. Here it is done mostly through whichever church you belong to (kind of tough on a family of atheists, eh?). Ah well, we enjoy the sunsets and look forward to visiting home whenever we can. Aloha and mahalo.

My wife Diane and I moved to Ventura County California in 2005. The sunny winter weather and more job opportunities in technology marketing were my prime reasons for moving here. I have not been back home in over 2 years so we hope to connect with other Canadians in the area. My father is American and has lived in SoCal for over 30 years. My mother lives in Brighton, Ontario.

My grandparents on my father's side were Canadian. They lived in Mount Forest, Ontario, and I visited them there many times. I used to enjoy dropping big rocks from the bridge into the river. There were a couple of kids who lived nearby we used to play with. I believe their last name was Welsh, or something close to that. I wonder where they are today. It was on these visits to Mount Forest that I grew to love Humpty Dumpty potato chips and Wagon Wheels.

My grandmother lived for a while in a nursing home in Owen Sound, Ontario. I enjoyed visiting the County of Grey Owen Sound Musuem while in town. I had a hand-made wooden roof shingle signed by curator John Landen from a visit to the musuem back in 1967, but I have no idea where it is now.

Family legend has it that my grandmother babysat for Anne Murray when they both lived in Springhill, Nova Scotia.

For 8 years, I had a long distance relationship with a girl from Seattle while I was in Vancouver. In 2007 we decided to get married and move to the Lynnwood area of Washington. It's hard to start a new life in a new country but my background, experience and education in manufacturing and business should help me get a head start.
